I think that is indicating a fault with engine,get it plugged in see what's happening

You are both correct, the glowplug light flashes to indicate a fault code BUT its often frequently caused by blown brake lights.

Well I never knew that blown brake light bulbs could cause that.....learn something new everyday.

Found this out last week after a bulb blew

It's 12v 21/5w double point , if the glow  plug light still comes on time to plug in the vag com
