Hopefully a simple one, but I note that the MAF sensor is visually the same for the Galaxy and loads of different other cars with the 1.9 TDi PD engine, but the part number is different. I have tried two or three different MAF sensors on my Galaxy Mk2 TDi and they all seem to work, but what is the actual correct part number and what is the main difference between them? Even searching eBay it throws up the same looking part but with different numbers (including one saying 'hot film' ?)
I am fairly certain the sensor part itself is the same for all 1.9tdi engines the difference is down to the housing it sits in.
No idea of part number though.
It makes sense that the sensor itself is the same. I see that the housing does have some slight variations, such as the air intake mesh - some have a separate circle bit which appears to push the airflow over a bit and others are just a plain mesh? I have seen the separate circle in the mesh described as 'hot film' in the description?
The MAF housings are also not all the same bore size- the Mk2 Galaxy TDI's have 2 different airboxes, the 90/115ps versions have a smaller bore outlet pipe (and consequently a smaller bore MAF housing), whereas the 130/150ps versions have a larger bore outlet and MAF, below gives a comparison:
