Does anyone know if a standard ford/vw cool box that fits where a rear seat does has got voltage protection so it switches off if battery voltage drops too low?
From memory, if the mains cable has a large box near to the 12v connector, this has the voltage protection.
If the mains cable is simliar to what you use for sat navs etc, it didnt have the voltage protection.
I beleive you can then buy the voltage protection similar to item 7 in the below link

Excellent thanks that explains it,one I have is just straight fag lighter socket plug so best make sure I don't leave it plugged in then!
No worries.
Yep i have that problem all the time. Especially when using the boot cig socket.
You'd think that the voltage protection would have come as standard, :)
Yes you would think so wouldn't you? Maybe if I start using it more I may invest in a voltage protection unit.
Just thinking if the low volt protection unit we have on trains could be adapted??
Id someone good with that im sure you can.
Also, it think you can by a universal one.
Im sure ive seen some for incar DVR's now.
Too much of a cheap skate to buy one.
