Title: 2000 Mk1 1.9 diesel TDI Aux belt tensioner
Post by: mkf621 on July 17, 2016, 12:12:24 AM
Hi does anyone know
1) how I change this tensioner and
2) where I can buy one from
It appears the shaft is worn out and I have a long journey to make which I would feel more comfortable with this sorted.

Many thanks
Kevin

Not familiar with that set up but looking at pic I would hazard a guess and say alternator needs to come off to change that.

Euro car parts or GSF would have them I would imagine.

Thanks for the reply, woke up this morning with a flash of inspiration.
It's the VW lump so found when I looked for the Sharan version.

It seems easy two Allen Bolts hold the tensioner in place (which is mounted on the other side of the bar which is about 8 inches long) and a screw holding the bar, looks like no need to take the alternator out.
Part are available too.
Now all I have to do is build up the motivation to do it. :)

Thanks again
