I am thinking of fitting a new tow bar to my Galaxy. how easy to take off the rear bumper?, I can only see the fixing screws inside the mudguard (three each side) is there any more anywhere else? . is there a guide on how to remove it on this forum?. have search but could find none so far.
I just mount a towbar in my alhambra this week.
The rear bumper was removed/painted/installed in a friends paintshop but I did the towbar installation.
If you need some advice for the wirings let me know

If I remember correctly there are a couple each side by wheel arch liner and also under the rear lights,it then pulls out.
Yeah the main two fixings are behind the rear light lower covers. Pop these off and then there is a large thorx bolt behind.
I dont think there is a guide so feel free to give a little back and write one since you are doing the job ;)
I have finally ordered the tow bar and hoping to fitted this coming bank holiday.
Casqueryman, I would highly appreciated any advice regarding wiring. the tow bar will come with universal 7 pins trailer connector. I will take some pics and share it with you guys.
There are basic wiring instructions in the ref library under the towing thread. Would be good to get some pics for it though *hint hint* ;D ;D
i managed to fit the towbar today. it is relatively easy, perhaps the biggest challenge was to take off the rear bumper. The towbar came with instructions which were easy to follow. The wiring was also easy, just connected to the existing car wiring (L/H indicator, R/H indicator, tail light , stop light and fog light) some pics were taken and i need to organise before I load them. However I am facing another challenge, i.e the parking sensors stopped working. All it does is making a low noise for few second then stops and keeps flashing. I heard that towbar may interfere with parking sensors, if so, any remedy. I checked all the wiring and contraction they look all OK to me.
Have you connected all the sensors back up after refitting bumper?
The noise you are getting is indicating a fault,I would think if tow bar is interfering with PDC you would get constant noise like an obstruction?
correct, reading the owner guide, page 178, indicates that the system is malfunctioning. I did check all the sensors, the front and the back ones and all seems to make ticking noise when the ignition switch is on and the gear on reverse.
Get vcds plugged in see what code it brings up,got a starting point of where to look then
Hi,
You can check which sensor is not working on vag-com/vcds.

am i right in thinking you cant get a dedicated wiring kit for the mk2 unless you go a dealer that is as i cant find one not unless its left hand drive anyway
attached is a doc explains how to take off the rear bumper and fit the twobar
parking sensors update. i unintentionally disturbed the parking sensors buzzer connection in the boot when i wired the twobar. only noticed it this morning, put it back and everything is working perfectly now.
Good work bud, will turn that into a ref lob doc shortly. Thanks!!
