Unfortunately my first post is to advise owners that I had my Cat stolen this week from my 2002 1.9tdi Galaxy. The car is parked on my well lit drive in Clacton. Apparently they used a hydraulic cutter which does the job in seconds and is very quiet. None of my neighbours cars were affected so presumably the bus is the easiest to get under. The guy in the exhaust fitters reckons they will get between 30 - 40 pounds for it and the older oem cats are more desirable because they have generated more platinum. Cost me 170 pounds to replace the cat and downpipe. Haven't had the bus for long and apart from this ownership has been a pleasant experience.
Bummer. Nothing's safe is it?! I assume you only realised when you started it up and the exhaust sounded a lot louder than normal?!
It's getting more and more common now due to the precious metal sin them, they will get more than 30-40 I reckon.
I got Ã,£150 scrap for 2 old cats off my old e46 petrol, less if it's an aftermarket cat though as they contain less than oe ones.
Nothing is safe anymore even if it is bolted down.
Humm, that looks identical to when they took the one off a Sharan I bought. They had damaged the cills trying to wedge the cutter under so at least it looks like they spared you that.
