Post by: marinabrid on March 31, 2016, 10:57:55 PM
evenin all

anyone with a thirsty petrol or mauybe diesel  notice that the fuel gauge seems about 1/3 full and quite quickly goes down to practically empty,   this happend to me today.  sure i had a 1/3 in and only did 30 miles and it was down in bottem end of red on gauge.   unless sender getting sticky,  not something ive read much of problem causing though

Hi Martin
I do find if ours is facing downhill when down to the Ã,¼ tank will suddenly go down to the empty and the fuel light and audible warning will sound, comes back up when on the level or face uphill.

I've always found my fuel gauge drops more rapidly when it gets below 1/2 tank and closer to empty. As Chris says parking on a hill will affect the gauge as the fuel will all 'migrate' to one end of the tank and alter the level of the float in the tank for the fuel level sensor/ resistor.

I've noticed with mine once below half it drops a lot quicker than above half. Sound like it's just a characteristic of these motors
