Hi Guys,
I have a problem with my mk2 1.9 tdi (115bhp) galaxy 2002. I have had this galaxy since last july, there was no problem with it till last week. I noticed, when I accelerate harder to the highway(means in third gear for 10 second full throttle) the car starts the acceleration well and after 10 sec it lose the power. No smoke everything looks normal just no power. When I restart it everything is fine again. If I use it in the town it is dynamic as usual (short accelerations are fine all day) and if I accelerate not so hard just normal on higway it works fine. I've changed the fuel filter, because I tought it is dirty and the engine does not get enough fuel. But it still does this thing. May I have problem with the in tank fuel pump? Sometimes the car starts little bit slowly (doesn't matter if it is cold or nut), I can hear that the fuel pump works. Is it possible that the in tank fuel pump doesn't make enough fuel pressure?
Has anybody got any idea?
Thanks for help.
Laszlo
Do a search for limp mode
I couldn't see any "check engine" lamp while this problem. Can I have LIMP mode problem without the lamp? (of course the lamp works)
Yes you can have limp mode without the engine light (glow plug light) on these diesels, it is most likely a boost issue.
This could be confirmed with a diagnostic scan.
Just a quick question. I've checked the actuator on the turbo. It was really easy to move.(with stopped engine). Is it normal that I couldn't feel any "backpressure", just from the spring. How can I test taht it is moving with the vacuum?
Thanks.
ps: I've ordered a vag com to check it.
What did you use to move the actuator?
The spring is quite strong and with limited access I can only just pull it down with my middle finger.
The lever needs to move to the stop without sticking and return by spring pressure.
With the engine idling the lever should be fully down against the stop and fully return when switched off
I used my middel finger also. It was went all the way down smoothly, than back to normal. Tomorrow I will check it with engine on.
Thanks for your help, when I get my vag com I will write the results.
Defo need fault codes checking to narrow search down.
I would be checking vac pipes,n75 and vnt actuator mechanism as you said it's really easy to move? In my experience it should have resistance when moving due to overcoming internal diaphragm of the actuator.
Ok, I checked a car today evening the code what I get is:
17965/P1557/005463 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation
(the original:
2 Faults Found:
18080 - Coolant Fan Control 1: Open or Short to Ground
P1672 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17965 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1557 - 35-10 -- - Intermittent)
Any further suggestions maybe?
Tomorrow I will check the pipes.
Another thing. Today I asked my wife to start the car while I check the actuator. The car started fine as usual, but I couldn't see any movement from the actuator, even with full throttle or no throttle. Is this normal?
That sounds like either n75 not supplying vac to actuator or the actuator itself is faulty.
As a crude test if you don't have a vac gauge you could put a vac hose direct from the nipple on main pipe from pump to the actuator to see if that makes actuator move when starting.
Thanks I will try it, and I will be back with the results. ;)
Also check the where the small hose is T'd to the large servo pipe which in turn connects to the vacuum pump, there should also be a spare nipple which should be blanked off make sure they are sound.
