Title: House radiator
Post by: marinabrid on March 05, 2016, 06:58:37 PM
evening all

Got a few rads on a combi boiler ,,  had one in kitchen never been open in 10 years as was behind fridge,   am swopping around so thought i will open it,   i stopped.,   wondered if anyone knew if the rad over that time would have made the water inside go funny in any way  that would affect the rest of system  like years of sludge or similar

thanks

Any idea if your system has inhibitor fitted ?
Me personal. Would just open it and let it run

not sure on inhibitor ,  water seems clear if i bleed it  so maybe not.

Maybe a good time to flush the whole system then add inhibitor.

Use as is. Shouldn't give you any cause for concern . Bleeding only lets the water out the top htw so sediment would sit at the bottom. But as said I wouldn't worry

Do you a "Magna Clean" on your system? I's highly recommend for system with old radiators. I would recommend to you to remove this radiator and to do it a flush of it with garden hose and while flushing bang it with rubber mallet.

How does it bleed, if it's not connected to the system?  If you've no inhibitor in, it will certainly be very rusty in there.
