hi there, i'm new to to this sort of thing so please bare with me. i recently
bought a 2002 ford galaxy ghia 2.3 manual. it's a nice car but does have a few issues. the alarm goes off a lot ( 7 times last night, unhappy neighbors). when i first got the car all seemed well when i locked the car the led on the o/s/f door lit up, which it now doesn't do but the central locking works fine, except the switch on the o/s/f door will lock the doors but wont't unlock them ( not sure if this linked in anyway ). i and my neighbors would be very grateful if anyone can point me the right direction as its driving me mad >:(. many thanks
Almost any fault with locks, windows, mirrors, central locking or alarms is down to the wires in the gaiter between door and frame. There are loads of links on the site. Get a coffee and enjoy the read😉. Make sure you, or whoever does it for you, uses a little section of wire rather than trying to join up the existing length though.
thanks for that info, the drivers door does have signs of previous repair work so this could be the issue. I will give it ago over the weekend weather (weather permiting) and l let you know how get on :)
Double lock the door at the the drivers side an that switches the alarm off but car remains locked an you can see if it works as the alarm indicator light on the door does not flash
Hi y'all
My 2004 Lx has the led in the door. ( BTW, My friends old Audi TT has the same system but in both doors.) It has never worked but I've never assumed there was an alarm fitted. Would an alarm have been a Ghia only fitment?
Definitely add wire into the door cabling. I used heatshrink and tape around the joins. I stopped short of filling the gaiter with concrete ;)
