Hi to everyone. I'm new to forums so I hope this is ok to post. I have a automatic galaxy 1.9tdi on a 54 plate. Normally runs fantastic but over the last 6 months or so it will intermittently thud/judder through the gears. It will drive fine then all of a sudden do this when its going through the gears. I can turn off the ignition then start it again and it will be fine for a while or sometimes I can ride through it for a while even putting it in semi auto till it stops but it can be scary. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

i think the 1st thing to do is to change the oil in the gearbox.
Thanks. Will try that first. :)
:) Very happy chappie!! After thinking my gearbox was on the way out or a very expensive job needed it has finally been resolved. It turned out it was the engine temperature sensor which was causing my gear change issues and high revving on start up with fluctuating tick over. No idea that this would affect my automatic gearbox causing it to thud violently through the gears for brief periods but had the new temp sensor put in and drove for 30 miles stopping and starting every now and then and drove like a new car. Hope this info can help others on this site, cheers everyone.
happy days [GJ]
