Title: headlight control module
Post by: marinabrid on November 26, 2015, 07:05:26 PM
Evening all

Just done a code check on various things   found this on the Xenon L/H headlight on vcds

01042 control module  not coded
55-00 adaptation not successful

thats it,   no idea what it means,  headlights are fine they auto adjust,  just passed mot few days ago and i had the L/H headlamp unscrewed and moved around trying to get to the gearbox controller.,
i put it back in as was   and it went on beam setter at Mot station and was fine.

Did you have the ignition and or lights on with the headlight disconnected?

Did you clear faults and scan again?

If so it's probably held the fault in memory.  A lot (all) don't clear automatically so you can find intermittent issues.

You need to run basic settings on it (there is a post in the ref library). I would suspect you have tuned on the lights with one or the other disconnected and it now doesn't know where home position is.

Hi there

Ive never had any lights disconnected in the 18 months we had it,
just read the post   although seen it before.,  it seems to say full version of vcds needed     is that right ?  i only have basic.

Can also be caused by a flat battery or a disconnected battery. I've only ever had a full version so I'm not 100% sure what you can or can't do with the basic one sorry! Try it, it will either let you or not ;)

Hello,

I know this is old topic, but the subject is same...

How did you program it?

I replaced my headlights with brand new complete Xenon headlights and i have that error on both side.
