Title: heated windscreen operation
Post by: marinabrid on November 20, 2015, 04:07:33 PM
Hi all

Wondered if anyone who has had a heated windscreen changed and had the usual non ford brand put in   cos you can't have the ford brand as its too expensive i was told,   there all the same the lady told me at national windscreens, they just put a ford stamp on,

have had the 1st hard frost of the season here   so out i went now car running to test it.,  i noticed a slower defrost than the original ford which you could see the zebra stripes in no time,  this one i have seems to spread more gently and evenly but much slower to react and the fine wires are much finer than the ford as the wife moaned she could see them and can hardly see these with her lazered eyes  .

so i think they are not all the same. anyone else noticed this ?

I have had my 2005 TDI from new and am about to replace the windscreen for the 3rd time.

The pattern ones from Autoglass have never been as good as the original which cracked at 3 years old (failed 1st MOT)

All of them have cracked without any obvious cause, they seem very weak compared with other cars, my 13 year old BMW is on its original screen and has done far more miles than the Gal.
