Help please. My interior lights do not come on when operating the open button on the key or when opening the front and side doors only the footwell and mirror puddle lights. All the interior lights work off the switches on the lights but that is it.
Can anyone assist? Are they controlled by a relay and if so where or could this be a fault on wiring?
:(
Many thanks for reading.Regards philda
I would imagine they are controlled by the BCM (body control module) but can't be of much more help than that I'm afraid, is this a problem that has just started to occur? If the puddle lamps and footwell lamps are coming on then that suggests the door ajar switches are working and the lights themselves are obviously ok if they switch on manually.
Thanks for your responce
I purchased the car 12 months ago as a cheap high mileage secondhand with a bit of mechanical work to do.The interior lamps have been like this since i bought it.I have had a secondhand door lock mechanism and central locking motor fitted to the drivers door by the garage i purchased the car from as the central locking wasnt working on the drivers door.I am now wondering if this may be faulty or as you suggest the body work ecu as i know when you press to unlock, the interior and puddle lights should come on,which as i say only the footwell and puddle lights work.Is their any way of test this?
Once again thanks for reading(this may end up by being another volume to War and Peace).
Regards Phil
IF it is the BCM at fault then it'll be a difficult thing to diagnose, especially without wiring diagrams (which I do not have). The trouble is, there's a good chance that straightforward electrical continuity tests or checking for a 12v signal won't give you the answer as the functions may be controlled by CAN bus pulsed signals, and unless you know what the signal is or should be, you won't know what to look for. I'm no expert on this, so maybe somebody else with more knowledge can chime in.
If the interior lights aren't coming on when you carry out a remote unlock before you've opened any doors then I wouldn't be inclined to think that the central locking motors were at fault.
Once again Paul many thanks for your thoughts on this. Looks like i may have to try a BCM and see how i go on from there.
