Hello, this morning I noticed that there's not much flow from the fan when trying to demist the screen, is there a filter that should be changed? Or anything else I should check? It's making plenty of noise on full and seems to adjust ok so I think the fans turning as it should.
Any advice gratefully accepted :)
Is the air being directed at the screen properly when you set it to demist? If it is, then I'd suspect that the pollen filter (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/galaxy-pollen-filter-removal-and-replacement/) hasn't been changed for a while.......
Hi it does seem to be aimed at the screen, but just a trickle of air (if that's the right descriptive word :) )
How difficult is the pollen filter to change?
It's a bit of a fiddle, the procedure is in the link I added in my last post..........
Thanks again, I'll give it a go.
I'd certainly check out the pollen filter first, when I first changed mine after buying the Galaxy it was surprising how much difference it made to the air speed coming out of the blowers, even though the old one wasn't that bad as they go! If it's still below par with the filter checked/ replaced then I can only think a directional flap within the blower box or it's actuator motor isn't working properly.
I've ordered a filter from eurocarparts today so hopefully it will arrive in time for the weekend and I'll have a go at fitting it.
Strange design to bury a regular service item like that though! I suppose it's to encourage us to use a main dealer, no such luck though. ;D
I don't even know if it's that to be honest, even the dealers couldn't be arsed with changing them most of the time! Seems like more of a case of the people responsible for the vehicle design were ignorant towards concerns such as ease of maintenance & thoughts of the people responsible for maintaining the vehicles in the field!
You could just run it with the filter out (before you fit the new one) to start with to see if that changes the airflow, just to be sure if it is that.
Good idea, I'll do that to make sure.
Filter arrived yesterday so excellent service from Eurocarparts especially as it's free delivery

I think you're probably right Paul, just a lack of joined up thinking then, surprisingly common unfortunately in all sorts of different walks of life :-\
You could always take wiper mech out and grease the spindles ready for winter
Pollen filter is a doddle with that out of the way
Well that was a bit of a faff, what should have taken 5 mins took closer to an hour ::) but at least it's done now and there's a good flow of air ;D the old filter was filthy with leaves and other bits and pieces stuck to it.
Hi just a couple of pics of the filter I swapped :)
main dealers avoid them like the plague ! funny how its the independent garages that end up changing filters that are blocked solid once the car is out of manufacturers warranty period ??
Did it improve the flow? Probably factory fitted that one lol
Lol quite possibly factory fit it was pretty grim and yes a huge improvement in the flow of air, I can de mist the screen now :) but I can understand why they get missed and at garage rates how it could be quite expensive.
they dont get missed by accident they get missed by purpose.because there a P.I.A to do.
but i bet most peeps get billed for it.
