Title: Loud noise from under passenger area of car
Post by: nach0man on September 26, 2015, 12:43:39 PM
Hi all, This is my first post, im sure many more to come. Only had my Sharan MK2 about 3 weeks.

I have noticed a strange problem with it, If I am only starting it for a short run, i.e. taking the kids to school. It makes a loud fan/compressor noise, but it is not coming from the dashboard or the engine, it is coming from under rear passenger area of the car. Its loud enough to hear once it kicks in within the car while it is running. Once the engine switches off, the noise carries on for at least 30 seconds.

It does not do it every time, but I have noticed it more on colder days.

Hope someone has some helpful advice?

Thanks
Liam

That's your booster heater or some call it auxiliary heater working, you have nothing to worry about.

Have a read below for more info about the heater.

Like mine- still  ::) . I haven't tackled mine yet because we've been in the warmer period of the year so there was no pressing need and as winters go, last year wasn't too bad down here, that may all change this year in which case I'll need to sort it!
