Can the Turbo on a Galaxy Mk2 1.9 tdi be reconditioned ? Garrett literature says NO, but other websites say yes. If it can be reconditioned, can anyone suggest any good companies to get it reconditioned by ?
Someone else also said that high-speed motorway driving can clear a clogged-up turbo.... is that true ?
any help appreciated
If it's going into limp mode because of overboost then it's likely the turbo vane mechanism is clogged with sticky oily soot.
A hard drive regularly will usually prevent this but the only sure way is to separate the turbo to access the vane mechanism once this is removed cleaning is really easy, see below for more details.

Of course if you have other issues with the turbo like whisling quite loudly or passing oil into the engine then you may want to replace the whole turbo or one of these CHRA units
