Title: Windows 10 - First thoughts?
Post by: Mirez on August 29, 2015, 12:23:14 AM
Curious how you guys are getting on (assuming you upgraded) to windows 10?

I've been using it for just under a month and its actually quite a slick operating system although its got a fair few bugs which should have been looked at before release. For example:

Really? 13gig free and it can't print a photo... grrr!!!

I quite like it so far, much nicer to use than 8 but i couldn't download photos from my camera or directly from the memory card but it would download the pics from my phone! Not sure why at the moment as it recognised the camera when connected but wouldn't access the files, hopefully an update will fix it if I can't  ::)

I started by doing a factory re install by using the recovery disc as I had a lot of rubbish and duplicate stuff on the drive, saved all the files I wanted to keep like photo's and documents on to flash drives.
No problem so far but I have used Lotus smartsuite for years for storing addresses and I need to transfer these over, but I think it's going to be a long boring job as it's not compatible now so will have to re write my addresses in something that works easily with 10.

Lotus smart suite now that's a blast from the past  ;D I got that bundled with my first pc about 16 years ago.
Libre office is a good free office suite if you don't have access to Microsoft office and you can save in "Office" formats for compatibility.

lol  :P

To be fair, that's the first and only real problem I've encountered. Sure there are a few little things that are annoying but it's been quite stable so far. The biggest issue I have is a stuck "update" which is apparently very common so hopefully that'll get fixed soon... probably with another update lol
