when i take off the filler cap the pressure is massive
oil is leaking out of the exhaust joints too
any ideas people
Sounds like a head gasket.
How are the oil & coolant levels? Is the coolant system holding pressure even when cold? If oil is leaking out of the exhaust joints then that ain't good, I'm thinking possible turbo failure or an internal engine fault, as has been said, head gasket may be possible but this isn't the usual type of head gasket failure found with the PD engines. Are the crankcase breather pipes all clear?
hi, oil and water levels and pressure all ok
were are the crankcase breather pipes? and how many?
cheers
The main breather is attached at the rear left hand corner of the rocker cover (as you look into the engine bay) and connects into the airbox to turbo feed pipe- see the parts diagram here (http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_part&s_id_part=24855&s_id_model=99&s_code_image=D002116906) (number 18). I'm not sure if there are any other breather pipes, if there are I can't find them in the diagrams.
How is the vehicle running whilst in this state? Is it down on performance & running badly?
Only the one breather as stated, when you say pressure is massive how have you come to that conclusion.
There will be an amount of crankcase pressure on high mileage engines.
i have 2 galaxys
1st 2005 105,000 1.9tdi runs great hardly any pressure at rocker top...
2nd galaxy 2003 1.9tdi 77,000 miles VERY heavy pressure at rocker top...
that breather in rocker top is weird seems to have a valve or filter not sure
i might take it off and look inside
ran out of MOT now so i cant drive it
