My name is Jay from Leeds and I am new to this fantastic forum. I have always been a Vauxhall owner but only recently converted to Ford. I don't know, just maybe my luck, but I am faced with an irritating problem.
I have a Galaxy Mk3 2.2 Tdci Titanium X auto 2012 "12" with all the toys and gizmos available. It has covered 24k miles.
Now and again the engine feels unresponsive as if it has stalled. I mean when I try to pull out of a junction there is nothing and I have to release the accelerator and depress it again for the engine to respond. this whole process could take 10-15 seconds, by which time it could get pretty dangerous at a busy junction.
I hope someone out there could give me some advise on this as I am on a drive through holiday to Italy and trying to communicate with a half decent garage is proving tricky.

wonder if a software update is needed.a few peeps have had a very similar problem and once it was updated it was more responsive.
If there's no reaction from the throttle at all maybe the throttle position sensor either wants cleaning or replacing.

Back in the UK now.
Whilst driving in France, the engine suddenly went into limp mode. Pulled over to hard shoulder and turned engine off for about 30 minutes, switched back on and all was fine. this happened 3 times during a journey of about 1100 miles.
I shall try and take it to a specialist with diagnostics but would appreciate any replies.

I have a 2008 1.8 Galaxy and have experienced an unresponsive throttle twice during my ownership (both at traffic lights).
The MK3 Galaxys use a contactless accelerator sensor to measure throttle input so there is nothing to clean so the link above to the MK2 cleaning guide does not apply to the MK3 unfortunately.
Hopefully the diagnostics reveal some useful info to remedy the problem.
On the 1.8 TDCI engines, the EGR valve is a known problem. As it is at the back of the motor, it is much more difficult to strip and clean it and the intake manifold, compared to the 2 & 2.2 motors. A blanking plate works wonders, though.
