Evening all
Would anyone know if the factory fitted satnav radio has any sockets on the rear for inputting a cable of any sort like a 3.5mm jack or rca sockets, thought id ask before i remove it and as usual for me , break something in the process :-[
Thankyou
Nope, no conventional inputs at all just a unique one to VW. You can buy adaptors to convert easily enough though :)

Thanks Mirez, i checked out the link and then found a pic on ebay of the sat nav unit rear, the plugs on the adapter kit on ebay don't look like they fit, on looking at the rear of the unit on the attached pic , which is the cd changer socket that this kit is supposed to plug into. thanks
Yeah it will, the changer plug on VW's is one of three plugs that clip together and fit above the power/speaker connector (the top of that black connector on the right).
This is the line-out cable but should give you a good overview:

i emailed the chap on ebay and he said if the radio has an aux function then i could use a cable which he sells which plugs into the little round plug with 10 pins mini iso he called it and was half the price
i have the mini iso socket but does the sat nav head unit radio have this aux function ?
heres a link to the cable

Interesting, that plug is the video in connector but of course will also do audio so good shout!
It depends on the variant you have, the MFD nav unit came in A, B, C and G revisions (IIRC). C & G should have the connector, A and B I don't believe have. Although you can tell from the part number (shown in one of the menus) the only real way to check is removal of the nav. That said if its a factory fit then a 2004 version is more then likely a C.
is there a way to remove the sat nav can't find it on the list anywhere., don't want to damage
this looks ideal but don't know if it will fit the seller doesn't know either he has lots of vw models listed but not sharan

No that won't fit, that's for the R Generation of navigation units. So it would be the RNS310 / RNS510. Your unit is one of the very first ones, an MFD1
thanks need to get this head unit out no screws to see how do i get it out thanks
You need a special tool :)
Look just in from each corner of the unit and you'll see small rectangular slots. You need to put a release key in each one and the unit then just slides out.
are they just standard slot type release keys or something special that no one will have ???

still can't get this sod out got some keys as Mirez pictured, no slots at top as you slide the pins downwards there is a cut out or something in the middle of the mfd 1 but the pins don't fit inside
i found this pic online if anyone can see how it comes out
panic over
i you tube it i was looking for the slots on the vertical sides there on the top and bottom horizontal :-[ :-[ :-[
I have done what your trying to do but not plugging into the block style connectors,on the rear in the middle there is circular socket that's what I used.
Not sure but will check tomorrow on the set up it came from Germany.
hi yes got the info on that but the set up was around Ã,£30 i found this on ebay for Ã,£3.00 Mirez reckons it will fit in the block connector set so i hoping its here soon.
quiet a saving if it works via the aux button on the radio, can't believe though when these cars were new you coulnt have a cd player with the multimedia.
the kids sit in the back watching dvd with earplugs in but the driver has no choice but the radio till now.
