Title: all is quiet :)
Post by: Lawmanmx on July 13, 2015, 06:10:47 PM
Mot time last week  ??? Anyways, I thought I would put it in without doing any of the things I knew were wrong with it (tyres, wheelbearing, front strut rubbers and bearings) just to see if there was anything else underlying wrong with it, AnyHooo, it failed on 2 front tyres and the shock rubbers (surprise surprise) and nothing else  8-)
so! I get 2 tyres on and take it to my mechanic who cracks on with the job, 1 hour later I get the phone call, "Tony, I cant get these shock mounts off pal" they are completely rotted and rusty.  ???  ???  ??? aaaaarrrrrgh!!! says I!!! WTF can you do then? "put the bonnet down and shove it off a bridge somewhere? (much laughter from him)  ::)  ..... and Option two is???? ... he said "I will have to cut the shockers off"  :( HELL FIRE.
anyways, two new shockers, nuts bolts and other bits and bats, two rubber mounts and bearings and 2 tyres and that's me Ã,£335 lighter in the pocket  :'(
but on a good note, my car is Silent  ;D no rattles! no chattering! and no clicking or cracking!  8-)
all I need now is to sort that annoying little 'nudge' on certain gear changes and the car is prefect.
just thought I'd share ;)

Luckily I have until jan until my mot, but whilst doing the dam gear box, one got excitable with the vactan an chases black paint, any bits of rust got cleaned treated an painted, went abit overboard really... All the sills out riggers, suspension, steering, brake callipers, 2 new copper brake pipes knocked up, few ball joint dust covers replaced, then wax oil in ever creases I could get, oh an bit of welding (an old mot patch that had been done very very badly so cut it out properly an nice replacement bit welded in an seam sealed up,  oh an timing belt job done as well, I'm hoping it doesn't want anything for at least another year lol !!!
