CAR MOT ADIVSORY SAYING SLIGHT PLAY ON BOTH STRUTS BUT I NOTICED THAT THE RUBBER PART AT THE TOP IS MISSING AND THE ROUND PART AT TOP OF ONE OF THE STRUTS CAN SPIN ROUND DO I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH STRUTS OR JUST REPLACE MOUNTS ;D
I would be very worried if my MoT centre had just given that as an advisory!!
The struts pass through the mount, into a bearing and then get clamped down. Theoretically you just need the mounts and bearings but the likely-hood of getting the old ones off intact is remote tbh.

HOW CAN I TELL IF STRUT NEEDS REPLACED OR JUST THE RUBBERS
it will be the rubbers Unless the Mot guy said the struts where fubard, best of luck getting the old ones out tho, I had my struts (nothing wrong with them) cut off because the tops were so badly rusted
well sorry to hack in.
i want try replace the golden top part of one of mine. yhe bearings and rubbers are ok, but the top plate is bloody rusted, so i am looking to get one or maybe set for both side and replace them.
the nut is coming of easily, but where do i get them plates from?
Thanks in advance
