Folks - any advice on replacement of brake pads (front and rear). I have done this on a VW Sharan previously - I have a number of concerns for my Galaxy 2012 Duratorq 2.0 TDI, including:
1- I have the Hill Assist Feature - will this impact replacement of pads given that this may involve electronics. I assume this feature impacts the front brakes.
2 -Rear Pads - I have a Caliper rewind tool from a VW Sharan and assume this will work with the Galaxy - is this correct? I read somewhere that I may need a RH and LH thread rewind set for this job.

Any help is much appreciated.

I've not worked with vehicles with hill assist so I'm not speaking from experience but I'd be surprised if there are any differences with the calipers themselves for vehicles with or without the feature, the feature is more likely provided by something within the brake master cylinder or ABS modulator, so I would proceed as normal with the front brakes and carefully retract the pistons into the calipers, keeping an eye on the fluid level in the reservoir as you do and removing fluid if required to prevent it from overflowing as the pistons retract and the brake fluid displaces back into the reservoir.                                                   

As for the back brakes, the important thing is that your caliper rewind tool fits correctly- there are numerous different heads to fit different calipers, it's not a 'one size fits all' scenario unfortunately. Also, whilst many of these type of caliper pistons are retracted by turning them clockwise, I'm sure there are some that are retracted by turning them the opposite way (i.e, anticlockwise), but I can't tell you with certainty which way they are retracted on the Mk3 Galaxy!
