Hi all,
Just noticed the bottom half of my trip computer has stopped working.
Anyone have any ideas please?
Thanks
Stuart.

Do you mean the FIS (red pixel) display between the dials? I believe that there are people who can repair the display or you may be able to get DIY kits, I'm not sure who can repair them but I'm sure Mirez has mentioned it before........

Hi insanitybeard,

The red digital display, of mpg etc... The top half which displays oil, indicators, high beam etc works.

Didn't realise they were seperate.

Thanks guys,
It did stop a couple of times about a year ago but sorted itself out. If I remember it was when my  parking sensor unit got drowned under the passenger seat.

Do you mean the LCD digits themselves are staying on or the backlight? Either way, it sounds like something is remaining energised when it shouldn't be, indicating either a wiring fault/short or issue with the radio itself.

Hi insanitybeard,
Yes the digits are staying on. Also they are stuck to one station. I can change stations but the display stays stuck on Breeze.

Then that sounds like an internal fault with the radio unit. You could try resetting the radio by removing & disconnecting it to see if that helps, you'll need a pair of removal pins and the radio code though. What model radio do you have installed?

Radio still works but the display has died.bit worried about powering it down as may be difficult or impossible to enter the unlock code lol
Its the Ford radio with with multi dicc changer in the rear glove box, or was till I put an inverter in the rear glovebox.

If all else fails I've got a surplus Ford 6000CD (single CD player) in working order with radio code I'd be happy to sell, it's still able to control the rear CD changer just as the 5000 model cassette player does.....  ;)

As an alternative, I think I've still got the model 5000 cassette player that I removed from the car when I bought it (the CD changer in the back had packed up and what use is a tape player by itself thesedays ::) ), I take it you've got a 5000 model fitted? As long as you've got the removable security 'panel' from your old unit (the one out of my unit is in a dismantled state but they're not 'coded' to the unit so you can just swap them around), you could just use that? (I'm sure it's in working order but will need to confirm)

Ok, give us a few days, it's stashed in self storage so I'll dig it out and plug it in! Hopefully I've got the radio code for it.......

No rush mate, Mine does still work. If it does die I've plenty of tunes on my phone, which connects up to my Parrot bluetooth thingy  ;D.

Ok, I've dug it out and plugged it in to test it- (I couldn't find the radio code in my paperwork but I've obtained it) I've reassembled the security panel as I'd taken it to bits previously- and it all seems to be working ok (on the radio at least, I don't have a cassette to try the tape player out with I'm afraid...  ;D ), there's a couple wear marks on the fascia and on a couple of the buttons but it's in pretty decent nick generally:
