Post by: eoin.dwan on April 06, 2015, 12:30:00 AM
Hi im new here and new to the ford galaxy.  Just after buying a 2004 1.9 td  model. Problem is car will drive perfect for 20 ,30 miles then it loses power. Its not smokey or missing . Its just gets very slow in gaining speed and loses power going up hills.  If car is then left for couple of hours it comes back perfect again. Until its loses its power again. Power is not been lost completl just gets sluggish. Also i have given it a full service which made no diffrence. Thank for any help or ideas

Greetings!

Ideally you need to scan for any stored fault codes to point you in the right direction, from your description I would say possible causes could include (but certainly not limited to!) intermittent sticking variable turbo vane mechanism or a problem with the vacuum control of this mechanism.

Hello and  welcome5

Having your own scanning tool  is essential if you are going to do your own repairs, all you need is an interface lead from Ebay and a laptop, see below for more details.
