I like playing with tech stuff so I've just ordered a Tado system - Just curious if anyone has one of these?
Grandson fitted a mobile
controlled system last year
Thinks it is great
tried to sell me the idea
but my eyes glazed over ::) ::)
must admit it looks interesting
but I think the savings claimed
look ambitious
let us know how it goes

Well so far so interesting! It arrived and seems a strait forward installation, replace the existing thermostat with the new one. All went well with that side of things but then the good old software issue, registering the device with their website "Apologies, our engineers need to confirm your system is compatible with tado" so I'm now waiting up to 48 hours for them to do what exactly? It's already installed, how can it not be compatible lol!
sounds typical
maybe an opportunity
to raise a charge?
is it answering your mobile
instructions
spoke to a friendly heating engineer
who suggested that a lot of people
will not make any savings
Well, its not installed and working. To be fair to them, tado's customer support has been first class and they've responded very quickly so that's a big plus. The install side wasn't too bad in the end either, just a little annoying that they want to check everything but I suppose they don't know the competence of their consumers so I guess that's fair enough.
Setup wise its quite clever - you install an app on the phones so it knows where you are and adjusts the temperature accordingly. So far so good in that its seen both our phones and knows we are in/out of the house so that bits working. I suppose time will tell regarding any cost savings, personally I doubt very much that we'll see a saving and in-fact suggest it'll probably even go up a little bit. Fortunately I didn't buy it for this reason, instead it's purely for the convenience of being able to turn the heating on/off remotely as we have quite an active schedule!
