Title: Galaxy Mk3 Clutch replacement
Post by: Ange on March 29, 2015, 06:51:29 PM
Can anyone confirm if the engine needs to be taken out first to remove the gearbox?

No, you just need to drop the front subframe. Just had the clutch and flywheel replaced on my S-Max - it's about an 8 hour job and cost Ã,£770 at an independent. Expect around Ã,£1,800 from a Ford dealer.

That's cheaper than I thought but obviously still expensive (eh!) My car is still under a 3 month warranty so I'm kinda hoping the clutch and flywheel will expire soon he he!

Check and make sure the clutch is covered under your warranty, usually clutches and brakes are wear and tear items :(

That's not what I wanted to hear Chris. Actually it is covered and I pointed out the fact that it felt odd when I bought it. Of course it didn't feel odd at all but just manouvering myself should anything happen. of course if he reads this I'll be weeing in the wind ha!

how long have you had it?
iirc if its within 28 days then soga comes into play,i:e they have to prove the problem wasnt there when you bought it,time is of the essence here use it to your advantage.
