Title: Front Shocks Question
Post by: moh on February 21, 2015, 05:19:06 PM
Hello all,

I ordered New pair of front Shocks from GFS. But I noticed that the original ones fitted were longer then the replacements by 3-5 inches ended up sending them back but according to GFS these were the right one for my 05 Galaxy. My question is will the shorter size still fit. THX [NE1]

Shorter in what respect ?

ie the body or the rod ?

Some shocks have internal rebound springs which means the rod is held in the depressed position - once assembled with the spring it will then be OK

Not sure if this is the case with the Galaxy, it certainly is with the Sachs shocks I fitted on my BMW a while back.

you need to measure and compare the results with the old shock, so you know where is the difference in length..

here is a nice picture where you can see a little bit what to measure. (apologize for the picture quality, I'm not the Leonardo da Vinci) :D
