For info.
Insulation jacket (foam) that fits over the PD engine cylinder head is still available from VW 7M3103954 Ã,£97.37 inc vat
By funny coincidence Chris, I was just getting some parts from my old Ford dealership and just for a laugh I looked it up to see how much Ford wanted for it.... retail excluding VAT Ã,£160 ;D ??? :o [HAHA] LOL, part number 1128606, not that it matters. Wow, that must be some high class foam!
remember its the box that costs the money. ;D

Just goes to show it's worth checking VW prices first for the MK1 & 2

Very true, as time goes by I've noticed some of the superseded part numbers from Ford for Galaxy parts have shot up in price compared to the earlier level part numbers (the alternator charging cable was a case in point), I have wondered if this is down to Ford themselves no longer stocking certain non-service items which are directly interchangeable with the Sharan and just having an agreement with VW whereby VW supplies the part to Ford and Ford just slap their label and part number on the packaging! Obviously this scenario could only apply to items which
are directly interchangeable and couldn't apply to things like lamp units and styling/cosmetic items which are unique to the Galaxy design, even if ultimately it was VW who made them in the first place!
Just my musings!
theyve been doing this for years, when i ended up with a brand new booster being fitted.i was told it was out of stock so i said why not walk across the road to vw and get it.PLUS it was a hell of a lot cheaper then what fords were asking.
was then told that i could go and buy it,they would fit it,BUT they wouldnt guarantee it as it wasnt supplied by them to which i replied YOU dont bloody make it anyways.ITS ALL A CON.
Pff, I threw the bamma one away as I thought you'd be able to buy them new for a few quid... bugger!
Silly boy :)
I've done alright on it, I'm not that bothered! :P
Very little to go now, a few final engine bits then the glass and doors before she'll be off the the crushers :(
I think there's a few on here that would have had the jacket myself included I've only got half a one, all the right hand side has gone.
Well you should have asked then, i've not kept the fact I'm breaking it a secret lol :D
I will accept my stupidity on one point though... I could have replaced the one thats damaged on my own car! Doh!! :)
Until the topic was raised recently I never knew it was even fitted! I just thought there was the plastic top cover over the rocker cover (which itself has a foam underside). I can imagine that jacket being the kind of thing that if a 'technician' ever had cause to remove wouldn't get refitted and instead find it's way into the murky depths of the workshop's 'can't be arsed to refit' pile!
are you breaking a alhambra then mark???
never knew!!!!!!
[HAHA]
