Title: standard door handle pin length on mk2 galaxy's?
Post by: dangelow123 on January 25, 2015, 11:47:35 PM
Bought a 2001 Mk2 galaxy not long ago, and recently come up against some issues regarding the drivers door.
The red flashing led that signals that the alarm is functioning stopped flashing and locking the car with the key via that door doesn't work anymore.
My method of locking the car now consists of leaning over from the passenger door and pushing the inner handle back in then locking the remainder of the car with the boot. (To unlock the car I need to unlock the boot then lean over via the passenger side and press the global lock/unlock buttons on the drivers door until every door is unlocked.)
So I've come to the conclusion that the handles need replacing (as the central locking still works via the buttons on the drivers door) and was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a set length for the handles pin for a 2001 mk2 Before I have to remove the handle and find out myself? Cheers!
Dan

Howdy!

Before going down the road of looking at faults with door handles etc, take a look at the wiring loom into the door where it meets the body (housed within a rubber gaiter)- constant flexing of this wiring over time with opening and closing of the door causes broken wires or chafed insulation and as a result short circuits, resulting in all manner of faults regarding central locking, electric windows etc etc. There's a repair article here.
