Post by: robbsykes on January 08, 2015, 11:00:47 PM
Hi guys, has any one ever replaced the front seatbelt, as mine has seased up and cant be moved at all.......ive been searching for a replacement but the only place i can find one is a salvage yard and i`d really prefer a new one (safety in mind)..

Does any body have any ideas on where to get one...any help wouldbe grately appriciated.

Yeah its fairly easy to do. Remove the upper B pillar, then the lower section to expose the seatbelt mechanism. Remove the scuff plate by the door to expose the tensioner. On the B pillar undo the U guide thats screwed halfway up then the two bolts - one for the top of the belt, one for the mechanism bolts. Undo the tensioner and remove.

If you want the belt new then you are essentially looking at just VW, Ford and SEAT dealers as I cant imagine its being made as an aftermarket part.

update on the seatbelt ....i`ve taken the whole thing to bits and it appears the were the pretensioner connects to the housing , it turns the disk  that connects it slightly which is locking the seatbelt, very strange as it hasnt fired, looks like its down to the scrappy next weekend for a new one, on an m.o.t. point of view do they test every seatbelt in the car, even if there arent any seats in the car ie. the 2 back seats

no but they do note it as not tested, had my smax tested last month and forgot that my boot still had my golf clubs in,the seats were folded into the floor,so they couldnt test them.
