My front engine mount bolts hv sheared can anyone help on replacing them I notice it doesn't hv rubber only metal to metal and no weight on it is this right any help welcome
Do you mean the engine mount that sits on the driver's side of the engine block over the timing belt covers? If so then that mount is in several parts, the dismantling and removal of that mount is covered here. (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/ford-galaxy-mk2-1-9-tdi-(pd)-timing-belt-kit-water-pump-replacement/)
I've just noticed you have your Galaxy listed as a Mk1 in your profile (and in your picture!) in which case it may be a similar but slightly different arrangement, the parts diagram for the Mk1 mountings can be found here. (http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_part&s_id_part=24430&s_id_model=98)
Break down service said it was front engine bolts but when i looked at them they are intacked but engine seems to be slightly lying bk looked under engine and bolt has sheared on engine resitor bar so he was wrong .? So should engine still tilt bk it looks if bolts have slipped
Its the housing transmission bolt thats sheared acording to diagraph thanks :)
The roll restrictors (number 9 on the parts diagram) are prone to failing on the Galaxy, they don't take the engine weight directly but damp the torque reaction from the engine e.g when you change gear. If yours has failed then the engine will be able to rock excessively leading to clunky gearchanges and harsh takeup of power.
Thanks have ordered new one would it have done any damage and what about engine seems to be lying back atbdrivers side shouldnit b like that any pics of engine
:)
If the roll restrictor has broken then the engine will probably be sat slightly differently to how it would be if the restrictor was intact and bolted up correctly. If it's only just failed then hopefully it won't have caused any serious damage, just try to drive it as little as possible until it's sorted!
Hvnt driven it since Xmas eve when it happened so hope its ok 👌 thanks for help and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
