Title: Speaker Bass Blown
Post by: wilbur0787 on December 27, 2014, 06:42:03 AM
Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum and would like to wish everyone a happy festive time. I have just purchased a 2011 Galaxy Zetec TDCI 138 and love it. The room and smoothness is great.

I have a gripe however and that is to do with the speakers - the bass has blown - and it sounds like the front door speakers are where the problem lies. I got a 2 year warranty with the car but the audio system is not covered and therefore would like to fix/upgrade the speaker/s myself. Any tips or recommendations would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance. Bill

Hello Bill and  welcome5

I'm not an expert on audio stuff but you need to determine if the speaker(s) are at fault or the radio itself also don't rule out the wiring through the door gaiter.

Personally speaking whenever I have had to change speakers it can be quite frustrating to get non OEM speakers the right wattage, impedance, connection type, and size to fit.

You may be able to swap a rear speaker temporarily to see if there's any improvement.

perhaps check out the rules on the sale of goods act,you say the ice isnt covered under warranty but i would think if its advertised with a working stereo then it should be working correctly.

Thats a very good point, define 'just bought'? Assuming its not a private sale you have 28 days for any faults to be rectified, the warrenty is for after that period iirc.

in that case take it back to them and insist they rectify it,they will no doubt come out with some garbage about it not being covered, then hit them with the soga.
