The wires between the door and post on drivers side are in bad shape, is there a multiplug on the post and can it be removed? I need to remove the rubber gaitor to fix the wires. Any help?
Yes the connector is where the wiring enters the post, simply rotate it counter clockwise and then it pulls apart - you can then remove the whole loom through the drivers door.
Thanks, got the connector off no problem. I've not removed the door card yet but I have seen your instructions (very clear) The wires are a mess. Is repairing a commonly performed task?
People do it all the time, but it depends just how far gone they are. What you generally find is that once the insulation's broken down then moisture gets into the wire and it go's from a nice copper colour to a black one - the problem with that is that it won't take solder in that condition so repairs tricky. Ideally you want to strip back all the black wire and splice in new stuff but as it normally breaks right up by the connector you may struggle to get good stuff to solder to.
Thanks, there are a couple of different size wires broken, is the ampage rating a big deal on the replacement wire?
YES! It must equal or exceed the original else you risk heat build up
I guess that's one for the silly questions category!!!
