Post by: siggieman30 on December 11, 2014, 01:40:43 PM
my VCDS LITE worked perfect on my old laptop which was running windows 7 and now i just cant get it to work on windows 8.1.
when i test the COM it comes up with port does not exist on all 4 of them. when i go to the device manager settings it says the drivers need updating but when i click update drivers i get

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

could someone please please please help me with this

Sounds like an issue with the USB-COM port driver rather than anything specific to VCDS.

If you still have the old laptop look in device manager and see what type of device it is, hopefully then you'll be able to find an updated driver, perhaps from the chipset manufacturer.

Have you tried running as administrator, possibly a restricted account doesn't want to play ball.
