could anyone shed some light on how to replace the brake servo on a mk2 1.9td.
i changed the master cylinder but didn't check inside the servo for damage. it turns out the piston was fubar but as i didn't check the master cylinder is now fubar as well.
now i have to change the servo as well as a new master cylinder again.
please someone say they know how to do it as I'm at my wits end this poxy cheap (pah cough cough splutter) galaxy is not looking so cheap anymore
Ahhh the old bargain that wasn't - that sucks :(
Removal is:
Remove the master cylinder
Remove the EGR valve
Disconnect the servo electrical connector (if you have ESP)
Disconnect the vac hose
Detach the actuating rod from the brake pedal - remove the clip and then the rod
Disconnect the supply hose from the clutch master cylinder - remove the clip, disconnect and cap the end
Remove the four retaining bolts holding the servo in place
Detach the brake pedal bracket
Slide the servo out to the right
thanks mirez don't suppose there are any pics showing the various clip and egr removal technique with my finesse i'll be lucky if i don't snap of the entire front end of the car the way things are going
hi m8 I have a 96 19tdi galaxy servo packed in the brakes where bad but stopped you I changed the servo unit now I have no brakes at all works if you stand on the pedal there is a check valve up about the bulk head would this have something to do with it an should I still bleed the brakes even if I haven't losted any brake fluid thanks new member :-[
Hello and welcome5
Check the vacuum pipe from the servo to the pump especially the connectors on the ends as these usually split or collapsed, the valve could be the problem but not so common.
cheers chris will do that to day have done every thing else took the master cyl back out last night an done a refit seems to be a bit better but will check all the hoses many thanks :)
