Title: 1998 Ford Galaxy 2,3 rear window wiper not working
Post by: Aspelund on November 12, 2014, 12:26:09 PM
Hi!

Newbie from Estonia has a question: few days ago I purchased a late 1998 Mk1 Galaxy for pricely sum of 200 Euros. Car has some niggles and one of them is nonworking rear wiper.

Wiper motor is OK, it was tested separately. Front wipers work without problems

Sadly I don't have Galaxy's own manual or Haynes, so I have some questions: which fuse and which relay are connected with rear wiper?

Took a short search here, one diagram shows, that fuse 12 is for rear wiper? Is it right? But what relay?

With greetings from Estonia

Hello,

Check the wiring in your tailgate gaiter. Probably you have one or more broken wires in there. So if they're broken you just have to take a soldering iron an solder new good quality and flexible wires into place after cutting out the bad part (about 20cm I think). You will have to remove the trim panel from the tailgate and the D-pillar to do this. It's also not bad to replace them all at once to be sure for the next years.

Check also this link for the photos (just don't repair it as shown there, having solder joints in the gaiter is a really bad idea and it won't last long) :

So just start by checking the gaiter :)
