As a newbie to the galaxy I am hoping someone can advise me.
I have a 2003 2.3 Ghia, I had a management light up so got it plugged in by a friend.
It come up with P0700, after reading around it seems that's a code sent by the transmission ECU to give a warning of an issue picked up by the transmission.
I have not noticed any problems when driving either round town or on the motorway. He cleared the code but as soon as it started the engine it come straight back up.
Where do I go from here :'(
Howdy!
I'm not sure if the 2.3 petrol (being a Ford engine) uses a Ford or VW sourced autobox (even though it may have been manufactured by somebody else), I'm sure it's not the same as the autobox used in the TDI or V6 (both VW engines). Was the friend who plugged it in using a generic fault code reader or something specific for the vehicle? The description you've given of the particular fault code is a bit vague, if it was a proper diagnostic tool for the vehicle I would hope it would give you a bit more to work with.
At least if it seems to be driving ok then it hopefully isn't a serious mechanical issue, it could just be a slightly dodgy sensor or connection somewhere or something like that, but worth making sure before it develops into something more serious!
