Hi all
just taken for mot, local garage with excellent reputation and member of good garage scheme tells me the rear brake flexis hoses are special and dealer only at a whopping Ã,£54 each, looked on ebay and see ones from 7 to Ã,£12 for a delphi brand, cars is standard 2.8 auto ghia with abs and esp anyone know anything if certain models had different brake pipes . thanks
There is only one shown for the V6 so you should be set, given the relative small size of the rear calipers I would be very surprised if there isn't just one for all.
Thanks for that, i wonder if the garage is a con man, odd though usually they buy the parts in from the likes of Andrew page and put a bit on top for profit rather than simply buy from the main dealer and not put anything on.
wondering now if i have a good garage or a con man.
i asked him today and this was the reply, that the parts were ford only and had a part of the actual brake pipe attached rather than being just a flex hose so thats why they are more expensive, I've never heard of this before but am stuck now as car sat on ramp waiting for these parts that are coming from Germany !
anyone else ever had such a thing ?
If the hose that he's referring to is item no. 20 or 22 (http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_part&s_id_part=24727&s_id_model=99) for example, which looks like a section of steel pipe joined to a flexible hose then the guy isn't fobbing you off, you'd be very unlikely to get an aftermarket one of those!
ahhh a little light shed on the item thanks, looks like that is what he is on about, so the parts on ebay must be part no 6 on the diagram looks like another problem cleared up thanks to this forum.
At least, according to that diagram (which can't be taken as gospel I admit, even moreso as items 20 & 22 are given the description 'weatherstrip- door glass' ??? ), items 20 and 22 look like they're only applicable to the V6, so that's possibly the problem, the TDI's etc look to have a different setup where the rubber hoses are separate to the steel pipes, god knows why.
