Hi all, first post on here.. looks like a friendly place!
I am having an issue with the passenger seatbelt - although it is clicked into place, the audible warning keeps sounding and the warning light on the instrument panel keeps flashing.
Any suggestion as to where the fault might be and is this something that can be rectified by a novice?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Nick
Welcome!
At an educated guess I would think there must be a switch/contact in the seatbelt buckle to determine if the belt is buckled up, possibly if the switch is defective then it could trigger the warning even though the belt may be clicked in. If it is this at fault though I don't think it'll be something you can repair as the buckle is not likely to be a serviceable item, and in any case if it has a belt pretensioner integrated into it then you don't want to be meddling with it!
Normally, most manufacturers use a simple ground loop to check if the belts are fastened. If ground is present then the belts are connected, if not then the light stays on. It should be fairly easy to diagnose with a multimeter but ensure you get the correct connector and not the SRS System!!!
