I have just checked for a fault in my beast only to see one fault register which is 01423 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) However it does not tell you where the blighter might be hiding, it also mentions that it may have forgotten its setting, if that be the case how does one re set it.......
Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) - Relearning Procedure
[Select]
[03 - Brake Electronics]
[Measuring Blocks - 08]
Group 004
[Go!]
Check field 2, the value has to be between -1.5 and +1.5 m/sÃ,².
[Done, Go Back]
If not:
[Security Access - 16]
Enter 40168, to enable the basic setting.
[Do it!]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 063
[Go!]
After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK".
[Done, Go Back]
To make sure the basic setting was successful, check the sensor value again.
IIRC the lateral sensors are under the front seats?
My God man!!!! You strike fear into my heart old son,I am a pure novice at this stuff and my mate who helped before is away for a month,I will do my best but am scared of messing anything up as nobody around here bar Fords seem to know a great deal and I can't afford a trip to Ford, however I will give it a shot. Many thanks Maestro
what is a lateral acceleration sensor ? is it on all Gals , i see you have 2.8 auto too.
I do believe it's part of the ESP system.
Correct. Lateral acceleration sensors measure the sideways movement of the vehicle - two sensors are used for redundancy and accuracy. Its how the ESP system knows which way the car is sliding - on the 2.8 I believe ESP was a standard option so you should have it - you'll have a ESP off button in the lower left of the centre console.
Well I gave it my best shot, yes the sensors are way off but was unable to reset as I could not find where to put security code, and then wondered whether I need to register my software in order to get proper access.......
Ahhh maybe, once you've connected to the controller its the lower right option "Security Access"
