Title: Intermittent Accelerator Not Responding
Post by: SiC on September 17, 2014, 08:21:52 PM
Hi all.

I have a 2008 Mk3 Galaxy 1.8tdci with the manual 6 speed box (lynx engine i believe).

On 2 occasions, once on the motorway and the other on a dual carriageway, I noticed that the car would hold its speed but not accelerate, reducing speed and accelerating again would only hold the current speed - not increase it.

On both occasions when changing down gears the car would stall and start again when bringing the clutch up in gear...eventually stalling for good when coming to a stop on the service station/junction.

Whilst the car would then start fine and idle, it would not register throttle input and it would take several attempts of stopping/starting the engine before the throttle would work again.

I've seen the thread about cleaning the throttle pedal sensors however it was of no use as my throttle pedal is a contactless one and differed from the pictures on the other thread.

When this has happened the car was at normal temp, plenty of fuel and no error messages on the display.

Has anyone experienced anything like this were the throttle (or ecu) ignores your right foot?

I've just ordered a modified elm cable and hope to check for error codes when it turns up.

Cheers
Simon
