so i get the paint code or number as it is, take it to Halfords to get mixed up and they say "huh code 25? there's no such code" i say well that's what it says on the plate so it must be right. nope they say, the computer cant mix that because it doesn't recognise the code. i tell them that i have been told by ford that the correct paint is Satin Silver but nope they cant do that either. the most annoying part is there is a satin silver on the shelf for VolksWagon but not Ford and i am told that they wont be the same colour match. is this correct?
now what do i do????????
Halfords for you :) - From experience they seem to train just one person on how to mix paints and the rest are left to figure it out.
Try another branch with someone who knows what they are doing 25 is a valid paint code, found under "FORD EUROPA" (as its a european car) and not "FORD" (as its not an american car). Satin Silver is very VERY common and is also on the Mondeo, Focus, Escort and KA.
Failing that you can buy it online from various retailers, ebay for example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-HQ-SPRAY-PAINT-KIT-28L-SATIN-SILVER-MET-96-05-/371047996431?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item56642f1c0f
in most towns there are car paint suppliers to the garage trade, they are usually the best bet as all the body repair places will use them.
