Title: Dash board storage lids
Post by: 372xp on August 14, 2014, 09:43:52 AM
Hi does anyone know where I can get the hinges for the lids of the storage compartments on the dash board? Mine are all busted and refuse to close properly, it makes the whole thing look shabbby.
Also whilst were about it I need bits of trim for the door cards.

A fairly common problem and not available as separate parts from Ford (http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_unit&s_id_grp=4398&s_id_model=99) unfortunately (it's the second diagram in from the left on the top row but due to an error with they the way that the catalogue in the link was put together you can't view that particular diagram full size), you can only buy the complete assembly from 'em, at a nice price of course!

It looks like you may just be able to buy the lids and hinge pins from VW (http://www.partsbase.org/vw/sharan-syncro-4motion-sha-eu-2005-85710-dashboard-fittings/) which may save a few quid but I think they might be a slightly different layout/style on the Sharan and therefore not fit.

There's usually a few to choose from on  [eBay], probably your best bet.

Which items do you need for the door cards? The window switch surrounds that wear off the finish and look tatty? At least you can get those new from Ford!

Thanks Paul, I have toured the scrap yards in the SW but with no luck. Lots of Sharans in Exeter but totaly different layout.
I think I an going to remove the scratch plates around the electric window switches and re- spray them as near as I can get to the original colour.

Ha, another Galaxy owner from my part of the world! Do you live in Exeter?!

If you get stuck  [eBay] always has some going, whether you want to pay what they're asking is a different matter!:

          Centre glovebox (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-GALAXY-DASHBOARD-TOP-CENTRE-GLOVE-BOX-WITH-LID-/131277847041?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AGalaxy&hash=item1e90c4fa01)
          Nearside glovebox (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-galaxy-MK2-00-06-NS-TOP-GLOVE-BOX-LR54-/251623477693?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AGalaxy&hash=item3a95ed91bd)

No Paul I live near Okehampton, Exeter has the nearest decent scrappies though. Couldnt find any dash hinges on e-bay. Maybe I will just have to stick the lids down.
Thanks for the tip on the scratch plates, did the ones from ford come in the colour you wanted?

if you give them the reg of the car it brings up on the system the colour that was fitted when new,    mine was light beige and 10 years old  but they still had them in stock

That would be about right bigdave. I am going to use those double sided sticky pads you use for sticking on number plates and stick them down for good.
