talk about being bloody busy,60 odd firefighters,2 main lifeboats plus others boats etc.
total bedlam roads closed etc.
we went down later to have a looksie such a shame.

still ill bet there be picking up money dropped from the arcade  onto the beach for yonks.
i know someone who works on it and all she got was her phone had to leave her bag,and cannot get it to get into her house.

It's always a shame to see historical buildings like that go up in smoke, the pier at Weston Super Mare in my part of the world met a similar end a few years back, though I think in the case of that one it was totally destroyed, at least not all the buildings have been lost at Eastbourne.

Is the shell of the Weston pier still there? They hadn't removed it last time I went?

As far as I can tell (not that I've ever set foot on it) the one that suffered the fire in Weston was completely rebuilt and reopened in 2010, though there are a couple of other piers in the town apparently.
