Yikes, both of 'em snapped! Unfortunately the manufacturers rarely use helpful description in their names of components to aid location or identification (well, at least in my experience of Ford anyway), so I don't think there's a particular name as such you can apply for each pipe, the best you can say is that the nearside pipe is the flexible one running from the compressor to the condenser, but it's in two parts- it's broken near the union (which is unusual!) and you want the flexible (rubber) part with valve. The offside pipe is the one from the compressor containing the expansion valve, failed in the area I highlighted in my picture in the other thread you posted in regarding aircon, this is a common issue.

Due to an error with the catalogue I can't link the site I usually do with parts diagrams so these are actually VW Sharan parts diagrams (http://www.partsbase.org/vw/sharan-syncro-4motion-sha-eu-2002-82010-refrigerant-circuit-a-c-condenser-with-fluid-reservoir/)- credit to Marinabrid for that site! I would imagine most aircon system components for the TDI on a similar aged VW and Sharan would be interchangeable, on the linked diagram I believe your nearside pipe is item 7, and the offside pipe with expansion valve looks like it would have to be number 14, though if that's the case it's a crap diagram as it doesn't show the expansion valve! Don't however rely on the part numbers, as you can see there are a number of choices relating to engine code and quite often, build date, spec etc, best to use it as a guide only, not gospel!

EDIT- It may just be worth confirming that the offside pipe has definitely snapped near the expansion valve (the canister shaped thing lower down the pipe just visible in your second picture), I'm fairly sure that must be what's broken, if it's not that that I can't tell from the picture what other pipe it would/could be!

the second pic (offside) is of the pipe cable tied up, it should be connected down at the bottom with the compressor from what i can see mate. the remains of the snapped bit are indeed connected to the compressor still. nearside (top pic) just appears to be a pipe that seems simple enough to repair, right?

would you agree that these would be the correct pieces for the job[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

As far as names go 7 is the feed pipe with the expansion chamber, 14 is the return.
Part numbers on Vagcat are probably out of date so just go by your engine code, if your lucky the part number may still be visible on the old one.

7M3820743C  is for the pipe with expansion chamber.  I've ordered it for myself few days ago on eBay for 77quid.

Yep, they look pretty good to me.......

D'oh, now that you say the pipe has broken off near the compressor (the offside pipe) I can see from the picture you posted it's broken at the compressor end, not the expansion valve end as I had assumed earlier..... right pipe, wrong point of breakage! :-[ Mind you, I wonder what happened for the pipes on both sides to break like that, unless it was the attention of some ham fisted 'technician'!  ::)

Have you had engine mounts/roll restrictor changed?

Might be worth checking these before changing pipes as excessive engine movement will put undo stress on these pipes and may contribute to premature failure.

Geez I missed this one, thats dosn't look to happened by wear - much more like a shear. Any sign of the front panels having been replaced? Wondering if she's had a light frontal in the past?
