ok so one day my cruise control will be working and the next nothing, any ideas people?
i know its run off of a vacuum system but surely if that's dead then the cruise control wouldn't work at all right?

Its only VAC on the petrols, being a diesel yours will be purely electrical.

When its dead is the light on?

hmmm i really didn't know that about petrol and diesel being different. I've learnt something new today :-)
the light doesn't show on dashboard even when it is working. i thought that was just normal for the galaxy.......strange but normal

A scan with Vagcom could be usefull here as this should pinpoint the fault, it could be something as simple as a faulty or badly adjusted clutch or brake pedal switch.
