this evening went to shut my rear hatch door and it latched but wasnt fully closed, pushed and tugged and nothing doing, great i thought rear lights were stuck on.message on convers saying rear hatch was open.couldnt set the alarm at all.thought it may spring open on the way home spilling the contents of the boot everywhere.
got home pushed and tugged again still no joy.
then i had a brain wave [bash]
decided to push the boot release button on the remote hey presto it worked [YES]
think ill keep a close eye on this,or do you guys think it was just throwing a tantrum??
It could be a bit of wear or stickiness in the latch mechanism causing it to not fully engage intermittently, might be worth a spray into the latch with some penetrating oil to make sure it's free and once that's dried out some white grease or similar to lubricate it. If that doesn't sort it then it may be a new latch required.
Is there an electric release switch on the tailgate itself to open it or is it purely on the remote on the S-Max?
unlike the mk2's its not really a handle, its like a large button you press which is electronic.
had a quick looksie at it today and cannot see anything out of place so to speak so will give it a spray with silicone spray and keep an eye on it.
