while searching for a part i need as ford don't sell, i looked for vw parts, found this website don't know if anyone else has it, http://www.partsbase.org they have what looks like dealer pictures and part numbers for lots of car brands no fords for some reason but as we all know vw is what we need, i found what i needed straight away. wonder why ford don't seem to keep the amount of spares available that vw do. the sharan is listed in all forms and variants of engine and everything on the car is shown in detail with numbers and diagrams.
how about this 1 then ;)

Very nice doesn't show the v6 engine though but great for looking up numbers
Not true, here (http://eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_unit&s_id_grp=900&s_id_model=99) it is. VW do seem to be more focussed on providing a wider range of spares especially for their equivalent to the Galaxy, the Sharan, hardly surprising considering that the Sharan and Galaxy are basically their creation and construction, there's virtually nothing Ford in the Mk2 Galaxy unless you've got a 2.3 petrol in which case the engine, gearbox and related items are Ford sourced. Ford obviously took the view that offering more spares equalled more money tied up in stock, warehousing, inventory etc so wasn't interested in offering such a comprehensive range of spares as VW. Case in point- my TDI rigid plastic glow plug electrical connector rail, from Ford I could only buy it as a complete engine bay wiring loom at the cost of hundreds of pounds (assuming it's still available at all), but from VW available as a repair item for 30 odd quid.
thanks for that, must have missed it somehow mind i was having a few shandies when i found it :-[
